One Night at Spookers
IndianEvents’ Social Club spent Saturday night at the infamous haunt fest, Spookers.  Simply said, ‘It was a night to be remembered!’

A large group of the IndianEvents’ Social Club members gathered in Dannemora for a pre-function socialization.  It was a great opportunity to meet other members of the Social Club before the main event.

Shortly before 8pm we departed for Spookers.  The drive to Spookers was an adventure in itself.  Driving carefully along the motorway and following closely behind each other, around the curvy roads of Papakura and passing numerous farms was unnerving.

After what seemed an eternity, but was really 20 minutes of driving we drove through the main gates of the former Kingseat Hospital.  Upon arrival at Spookers we were greeted by a werewolf, whose gigantic teeth and hairy form kept our keen photographers very busy!

Fifteen minutes of waiting in line and being greeted by various forms of terror, we finally entered the infamous, “Haunted House.”  The Haunted House is a tribute to many of the scariest and most terrifying horror film characters imaginable.  Each creature and each room is like entering into one’s own worst nightmare!  There are many twists and turns; no one room is like the other.

Our teams of four courageously made their way from one room to the other in pitch blackness.  We battled past knife wielding maniacs, butchers, crazy mental patients and even a nurse who had a morbid fascination for headless babies.

Blood stained walls, deathly screams, clanking of chains and corpses in every direction, were all a part of the experience created by the Weta Workshop team, who are the masterminds behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

After 30 minutes of scrambling around the Haunted House we finally emerged outside, exhausted and excited.  Our teams of four slowly made their way to the next attraction on the agenda, “The Freaky Forest.”

The Freaky Forest is a terrifying walk through a real forest outside in the middle of nowhere, where the only source of light is the torch that you carry.

Just imagine, “The Blair Witch Project”, where three friends enter a forest with the hopes of finding the truth behind the infamous, “Blair Witch.”  What was a simple quest to find the truth, ended up being the most terrifying night of their lives.

The Freaky Forest is not a Sunday evening stroll through native bushes, it really is a test of the bravest…..or fittest.  A pathway leads from the entrance of the forest to the exit.  Along the way many creatures intercept your path, making your journey even more terrifying.  The most fearful creature lies at the exit of the forest, revealing itself at the most unexpected moment.

If you are in need of a good scare or simply want to experience something a little different and unique, then Spookers is the place for you.  Featuring more than just the Haunted House and Freaky Forest, it offers experiences that are ever lasting.

Thank you to all those members of the IndianEvents’ Social Club that made the effort to join us at Spookers.  The night was fun, exhausting and definitely memorable.
