Cast: Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Govinda
A film directed by: Nikhil Advani. |

It can be said that Bollywood is losing its golden touch to produce unique and interesting films. The latest production from the Advani/Johar camp, Salaam-e-Ishq is more like an adaptation of Richard Curtis’ all star ensemble hit, Love Actually. |
Salaam-e-Ishq, A Tribute to Love is simply a story intertwining the lives of six different couples from across the globe as they set out to find the solution to the age old problem of love.
The film begins on an interesting and light hearted note as the audience is introduced to the 6 different couples whose stories we follow. But the usual clichés of memory loss, commitment phobia, mid-life crisis, overpowering ambition and the east-west divide make this an eternally long film to watch. A little more editing could have turned this into a cleverly pieced and powerful story. |

For those who love a good old romantic soiree then this long number is a good watch. The music is great, the all star ensemble cast an interesting choice and the dance sequences a lovely delight.
My pick of the best couple story would have to go to John Abraham and Vidya Balan. Though a tragic love story, the chemistry between the two is electrifying! |
Govinda is back and after seeing him in his usual comedic role in Bhagam Bhag, viewers will be pleasantly surprised to see him as a loveable taxi driver who is looking for his dream girl – a gori mem! A fresh and sweet love story. |
| Salman Khan is no doubt a king of Bollywood and Priyanka Chopra is the darling. Unfortunately, even this could not save their forgettable performances. Both seemed to give an unnaturally stiff performance and lacked an onscreen chemistry. |

| Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla give an altogether powerful performance as a seemingly perfect couple whose lives are shattered by infidelity. |
| Akshaye Khanna plays the role of the commitment phobic bachelor who is trying to ‘dis-engage’ himself from his adoring fiancée (Ayesha Takia). Surprisingly Akshaye manages to steal some of the limelight with his boyish charm. |
| Last but not least is Sohail Khan with Isha Koppikar – a newly married couple trying to consummate their marriage. A hilarious little story that feels like an after thought by the director. The characters are given one sentence dialogues and appear as a divide between scenes. |
Overall I would rate the film 2.5 out of 5 stars. The film has a great sound track and if you are willing to sit over three hours to watch numerous stars and dance numbers – Salaam-e-Ishq may actually be for you. |
