Nach le gaa le – The Muqabla Night 2

Nach le gaa le – The Muqabla Night 2 was an explosion of colour, music and dance that lasted until one in the morning!

The night began on a quiet and loving note with young children dancing and singing to a few memorable tunes. The two main MCs for the night, Harpreet (Happy) and Gursimran (Mintu) delighted the audience with their onstage banter and illustrious personalities.

The night was slow to start, but the overwhelming performances by the numerous Gidda and Bhangra groups were well worth the wait. This year the competition was even more fierce than the previous year – not only were national groups competing for the title of number one, but a bhangra team from India was also present. Needless to say, the competition was on!

The Gidda performances were more than just a simple dance. Each group performed a sensational story, full of emotion, movement and expression. Judgement of this particular segment would have been very difficult. The winners of the Gidda competition were New Zealand Punjabi Group. The ladies were simply amazing!

The men were not to be outdone in their segment. Handsomely clad in colourful traditional attire, the men were a strong act to follow. The Bhangra segment of the night was purposely left until the very end. The amount of energy and enthusiasm brought to the stage during each and every performance was mind blowing.

But, alas there can only be one winner. The team from India did their best to ensure their performance was strong and at par, but nothing could beat the mighty Kiwis in their home territory! The winning Bhangra team was Punjabi Versa!

Nach le gaa le – The Muqabla Night 2 was not just bhangra and gidda, there was a mixture of performances by a range of talented individuals. Some of the electrifying acts from V4U, including Viraf and his team performed during the night. Their acts were simply flawless and they complimented the show perfectly.

The level of professionalism and an international level of performance is something V4U is admired for.

A few other acts that performed were Jignal Patel, Bollywood Grooves, a performance by the girls of Auckland Indian Association and of course the highly anticipated show stopper, Punjabi temptation, Kooljeet!

The ruggedly handsome, Punjabi Ricky Martin of India was sensational! His gyrating performance combined with his sensual baritone voice was a must see for all! Kooljeet’s performance will be remembered by all those that were present.

Something a little interesting that captured my attention – Shaadi.com game show! This was an exciting interaction between couples as they competed against each other in a true test of compatibility and knowledge. My only wish – was for the exciting game to be a little longer.
Overall the show was seamlessly executed! With a variety of performances from the ever popular bhangra, gidda and singing, right down to the comedic plays that were a welcoming break to the show. The show concluded with a more than amicable vote of thanks to all sponsors present on the night.

A salute goes to the boys of Nach le gaa le night who effortlessly managed another great show!

PS. A very special mention must be made to the delicious food sold at the show. The organisers did a fantastic job.

Please note pictures from Nach le gaa le night will be available next week.
