Aparajita – An enlightening insight

 It can easily be said that Rohini and Jayadev Hattangady are two of the great personalities for Marathi Rangabhoomi!

The play’s central theme is one’s self respect and how far one is willing to go to conquer her dreams and desires.

It's not easy keeping an audience entertained and interested for 90 minutes.  With a continuous non stop amazing performance, Rohini Hattangady’s performance, personality and years of experience helped her to achieve this.
How a person is able to perform so many roles, so effectively and without a moments break is beyond my imagination!  I have never before seen such great acting. 

For me, Aparajita was a very simple way of expressing a story of  woman’s fight for freedom in this male dominating world.  Through Aparajita, a true depiction is given of situations for women in a male dominated world in a comedic, innocent and at time emotional manner.

The play, Aparajita is for a select type of audience.  It is not purely entertainment nor is it comedy.  It is a story of struggle and discovery through the eyes of one character.  The play is highly suitable for those that enjoy art movies, culture and values.

I personally enjoyed this play very much and would strongly recommend it.  Rohini’s amazing acting and the play’s central message is important for women of any generation.
